2020 Jeep Cherokee
The new 2020 Jeep Cherokee continues the legacy of last year’s outstanding model. There aren’t any significant changes, but it retains powerful engines, both in its V6 and turbo lineup, with smooth acceleration and plenty of power. It has a superb suspension for a smooth ride and boasts a great infotainment system. Naturally, the Trailhawk offers best-in-class off-roading.
The new Cherokee comes in five trim levels. The base level is the Latitude, which steps up to the Latitude Plus. The Cherokee Limited is a midrange trim, and the Overland is the high-end version with all the bells and whistles. Off on its own sits the Trailhawk, which is geared toward off-roading. Most are driven by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that gives you 180 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. You can step up to a 3.2-liter V6 with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of torque, or a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that gives you 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
Features and Options
At the base level, you’ll get Bluetooth® for phone and audio, dual USB ports, six speakers, and a 7-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Stepping up a bit, you get features like standard satellite radio, extra USB ports, and safety features like blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and more.
Going even higher, you can get options like a heated steering wheel and heated seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and nine speakers. Also on offer are HD radio, GPS navigation, cooled seats, driver memory settings, and many more features, all spread among the various trim levels, with many available as individual add-ons at lower levels.
The Trailhawk trim delivers the trailblazing spirit of outdoor adventure that drivers expect from a Jeep. It offers wider wheels with off-road tires as well as the advanced Active Drive II and Active Drive Lock all-wheel drive system. The ground clearance is increased and underbody skid plates are added. You also get tow hooks, specially tuned suspension, ascent and descent control, locking rear differential, and other features designed to keep you moving on rough terrain.
Many features, like the Active Drive system, can also be added on Latitude Plus, Overland, and Limited trims. The tow hooks pair with the Trailer Tow package, which gives you a Class III trailer hitch, 4- and 7-pin wiring harnesses, and transmission cooling. These work together to improve your towing capacity to 4,500 pounds.
