A Jeep Wrangler Unlimited gives you the freedom to embark on a variety of adventures around Mansfield, Attleboro, Norton, MA, and beyond. To make sure that it can handle every challenge on the road though, you must take it in for regular service.

If you're not sure how frequently your Wrangler Unlimited needs maintenance, the Station Chrysler Jeep team is happy to teach you all about its maintenance schedule below. Keep reading to find out how to keep your Jeep in great shape no matter how miles it's traveled.

Once Per Month or Before Long Trips

Whether you're driving your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited every day or several times per month, it's important to check its vital. Just as you get your blood pressure and temperature checked at doctor's visits, you need to do the same with your Jeep.

A once per month check includes these simple tasks:

  • Check engine oil level
  • Check tires for inflation pressure, damage, and excess wear
  • Check windshield wiper fluid
  • Check interior and exterior lights
  • Check fluid levels of coolant, power steering fluid, and brake master cylinder

The best part about this check-up is that you only need some basic vehicle knowledge-anyone can do it.

At Every Oil Change

You'll likely be scheduling oil changes more than any other service. Fortunately, oil changes line up with many other maintenance tasks, so you're getting a lot done in one trip.

Besides getting your oil and oil filter replaced and tires rotated, you'll need to get the following parts and systems inspected for wear or damage:

  • Battery
  • CV/universal joints
  • Brake pads
  • Exhaust system
  • Engine air cleaner

Your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is equipped with an oil change indicator system that monitors the level and quality of your motor oil. When it detects that your oil quality is reducing, it will alert you to schedule a replacement.

Depending on your driving habits and the environment that you live in, this system will alert you at varying mile intervals. However, Jeep recommends that you do not drive more than 10,000 miles between oil changes.

Every 12,000 Miles

There's only one item that needs to be checked off every 12,000 miles and that's getting your cabin air filter replaced. To make this task more convenient, your service technician may be able to do this during your oil change.

Every 20,000 Miles

At every 20,000 miles, your Wrangler Unlimited will need additional inspections. Parts that need to be checked at this point include:

  • Front and rear suspension
  • Front and rear axle fluid
  • Brake linings

Your parking brake will also need to be adjusted if you have 4-wheel disc brakes. If you tow or off-road frequently, you'll need to get your front and rear axle fluid replaced starting at the 40,000-mark.

Every 30,000 Miles

Staring at 30,000 miles, in addition to a few inspections, you'll need to get your manual transmission fluid and engine air cleaner filter replaced.

Once you reach 60,000 miles, the spark plugs on a 2.0L engine need to be replaced as the transfer case fluid.

Services Starting at 100,000 Miles

The 100,000-mile mark is an achievement that you should be proud of. You've kept your SUV in great shape for this long and now it's time to replace some of its vital parts. For instance, at 100,000 miles, you'll need to flush and replace the engine intercooler.

If you have a 3.6L engine, the spark plugs will also need replacing. A 2.0L engine will need this same service at 120,000 miles in addition to a transfer case fluid replacement.
